Number two in our exposed structural elements photo essay, from our friends at McAlpine Tankersley, is this wonderful timber-framed breezeway. Nice detailing of corbels and scroll-cut roof joists, v-groove joint decking, and ideal proportioning creates a charming architectural element…the whole whitewashed to complement the blue-grays of the siding and stone paving. The perfect feel for a seaside retreat.
Woooow what a gorgeous doorway. I’d love to see the rest of the house, but just seeing the doorway hints that this might be a custom new home. Most of today’s new home builder companies offer energy efficient solutions with their designs, so that’s another reason to choose custom when you want to buy a home. Please post more pics. I’d love to see them.
